21 today :)

Hey

Today is my birthday and I am glad the day has been fantastic so far. I am happy and my family and friends just made it that much better. Thanks to everyone that has made me laugh and smile today :) I am glad and lucky to have such amazing people in my life! 

Because of exams, I could not do much so I just invited some friends over just to eat some cake and laugh a little, actually a lot.

Silent Protest 2012 - "Sexual Violence = Silence"

This year, with more participants, another successful silent protest was held at Rhodes University, Grahamstown. I was one of the photographers of the event and even though I was not taped this year, it is still an emotional experience. I hope the awareness was made and heard to all those within the borders of Grahamstown and beyond.

This specific picture is the one I used for a competition in the Photography Society in the university and won :)

After today's weather in Grahamstown, I can say that we have all officially been welcomed back by mother nature as she showed us once again how she allows for season changes within 24 hours. On the brighter side, she ended her appearance allowing us to enjoy the view and beauty of a rainbow. As always, it looked beautiful against the grey sky and stood out from the green leaves, thus I could not waste this opportunity to not photograph such a moment - I love rainbows as they make me smile and allow me to enter into a world of pure imagination. :) Hope you like rainbows, too.

It has been a while - very long time actually - since I have posted any pictures :( Well, not to worry because I am moving on from the flowers and have some fashion shots to upload in the forthcomings. Yay!



Today is a special day for me as, after 31 days, my cast is finally off. My foot is much much better and progressing well. I am now in possession of an aircast (moon boot) which makes my life easier and allows for me to see my foot. No, i'm not yet fully recovered: 'Not yet, but getting there!' Here are a few pictures of what my cast looked like with the loving messages my friends wrote on it.

On this day, I injured myself.

I was having a relaxed evening with close friends, watched one of the most beautiful sunsets ever and played a few games with the people around me. Returning to my home, in the early (and dark) night, I tripped over a rock and fell. Knowing that I constantly hurt my ankle, I was sure at that point that it was a mild sprain. I ignored the injury for the night and lay to rest. The following morning I could not place my foot on the ground and this time realised that it was more than a mild sprain. I was convinced I has sprained my ankle, hence, it has happened to me before. After a lovely visit to the hospital, I was informed that I had fractured my bone - my ankle was broken - and on top of that, I had damaged all my ligaments on my foot. Bummer :( Since then I have had a cast on my foot and have been VERY angry about my injury. I have received all sorts of reactions and I must admit that the best reactions had to be from my family, res mates and another bunch of mates that were with me the day the injury happened. They did not give me the baby talk or make me feel worse. They laughed with me and always made sure I would smile from all the comments they threw my way. They have helped me get over my injury and enjoy it while I have it.

It has now been 17 days since my injury and for the first time, I can say " I AM OVER IT". I am not angry about my leg anymore.

Days after my first flower thrill, I was lucky to have new flowers enter the house - only this time, they were not orange, not a single flower and came in a beautifully organised bouquet. The next pictures from my flower series are of carnations, pink carnations, and  stargazer lilies :) They have a lovely scent and definitely brighten up my day!
